The BackupYourSite WordPress Plugin

Scheduled, verified WordPress backups that save to your own server — free, no SSH and no account needed. An optional connection adds an offsite copy on BackupYourSite Cloud when you want one.

No SSH? No problem — it runs inside WordPress

Our SSH service is agentless by design, which is exactly why some hosts can't use it: no SSH access, no shell. The BackupYourSite plugin is for those sites. It backs up files and the database from inside WordPress itself, in small steps so a short time limit or a tight memory cap slows it down instead of breaking it, and restores everything again in one click — right from the WordPress admin.

  • Install from WordPress.org, no server details and no account needed to start
  • Runs the backup itself, inside WordPress, in resumable steps built for cheap hosting
  • Saves archives to your own server by default — connect an optional BackupYourSite Cloud account only if you want an offsite copy too
  • Every backup is verified before it counts — the same verify-before-it-counts rule as the SSH service

Which one should you use?

If your host offers SSH (nearly every cPanel host does), our SSH service backs your sites up with zero footprint on the server itself — nothing installed, nothing running there. If it doesn't, the plugin gets you the same verified, restorable backups from inside WordPress instead. You can run both across different sites on one BackupYourSite account.
